Description
This project consisted of a $6 million renovation/retrofit to an existing 100-year-old, 4-story building at 215 King Street East, and is to house George Brown College Centre for Hospitality & Culinary Arts.

A new state of the art street-level restaurant, “The Chef’s House” was created. This high-end restaurant is open to the public and features an open kitchen with flat screen monitors throughout so patrons can experience their meals being created by the student chefs.

The upper floors have been renovated to offer up-to-date teaching facilities and classrooms.

A Cause for Celebration:  J. J. McGuire Employee Awards

January 27, 2018, was an evening of celebration for the J.J. McGuire family at the beautiful Grand Prix Track Event Centre at the Canadian Tire Motosport Park where we honoured all of our employees, in particular, those reaching milestones, in service years, with J.J. McGuire.

It’s one of the joys of management to recognize those whose ongoing dedication makes such a difference.

10-year awards went to Lisa Courtney, Paul DeSousa, Elizabeth Huckson, Ansu Konateh, Mike Moreira, Brent Roder and Shelley Welsh.

15-year awards were presented to Paul Henderson and Luigi Marsilio.

The 20-year award was presented to Wayne Surette.

The 25-year award honouree was Christina Moreira.

The stars of the evening were our 30-year award recipients, Jack Huckson and Andy Wojtis.

Everyone’s efforts and hard work are greatly appreciated.

It was an evening of good fun, good food and relaxation.  Best of all, it was in the company of the wonderful people who make up our team.

Description
The project involved the demolition of existing assembly lines and the installation of 7 new lines for the manufacture of the Gen 5 engine. The Civil work involved the construction of new slabs and the revisions to the structural steel. The work was fast-tracked with a 3-month schedule improvement. The turnover back to GM involved the coordination and integration with several of the GM Original Equipment Manufacturers.

Description
Scope was a renovation of the Gordon Willey C-Wing Ground Floor. Included in the scope was new mechanical upgrades and replacement of lighting & ceilings, as well as new data and communications for each new lab. The project also included new flooring, painting doors and offices for staff. The College auditorium was completely renovated with new lighting, mechanical upgrades, epoxy flooring, painting and new seating.

Description
The project included working around daily operations, the scope of work included concrete cutting and installing new footings for the structural steel. Dust protection and safety were key to implementing a successful project. The mezzanine was constructed of structural steel and metal deck with a concrete topping. The purpose of the expansion was to provide more space for product distribution.

Description
Wendat Senior's Residence is a new 20,000sf 23-bed facility in Penetanguishene, Ontario. This "Not-for-profit" facility will service 28 persons annually as well as provide non-resident meal programming and structured day programming.

Construction scheduling was manipulated to suit the Owner's funding with the site clearing and site servicing, including stormwater retention ponds, beingcompleted in late 2013, with building foundations/basement done in late 2014, and the balance of the building being done in 2015.

The wood framed single story structure is completed with stone and brick exterior, vinyl windows, and aluminum entrance doors. Interior finishes include drywall, paint, VCT flooring, ceramic tile, millwork and a full-service kitchen with walk-in cooler/freezer and gas range with fire suppression exhaust hood.

The project consisted of demolishing and removing 2 old ice rink pads and installing 2 new pads, including new hockey boards and new refrigeration for the ice rinks. The project also included a new elevator with associated structural work for the elevator shaft at the front entrance, and some interior renovations to the washrooms.
